- The new standards and competencies require each program to offer course work in pathogy/patho-psysiology of injury and ilness
- Understanding the processes of the body in a injured or diseases state is integral in the development treatment regimens to promote health and wellness
Referring to medical care
- Families may call the Sports Medecine Center directly to make an appointment
- Scheduling for the sports medecine physician, as well as the sports medecine physical therapy clinic
Referring support service
- If needed the athletic trainer must be familiar with and should have access to a variety of professional school and community health service agencies including community-based physiological and social support services available to the athlete.
- With assistance and direction from these agencies, the athletic trainer together with the athlete should be able to formulate a plan for appropriate intervention following injury
